Location introduction
Having explored all these areas extensively in the past few years, we are now offering this adventure to all our participants. We are including many Glens, Lochs and mountains from which Glen Coe, Glen Orchy and Glen Etive are the most known ones. Our adventure starts at Glen Orchy, passes through Rannoch moor, diverts into Glen Etive and continues all the way to Glen Coe; before it ends at Loch Leven and the little village of Kinlochleven. We go as far as Castle Stalker at the shore of Loch Linnhe, excellent location for a sunset.
These are not just landscapes but the scars of time and thousands of ice age years.
Glencoe and the nearby Rannoch Moor, contain some of the UK`s best wild mountain and moorland scenery. If you are lucky to see it with some cover of snow and ice, bathed in the gorgeous low sun light, these areas become simply magical.
There is so much to photograph in these areas that the experience is truly breathtaking. The scenery constantly changes, as the mood and atmosphere of the ever changing light can play games with the landscape, altering its look so fast that, one can only be amazed. This is what I call, the transient light phenomenon.
When Buachaille Etive Mor is covered with snow and the early morning sunlight touches its peak, then the experience can become striking and spectacular.
Add to this another early morning with a sunrise over Loch na h-Achlaise, with its still water and black mount as a backdrop, and you are in for a once in a life time experience. We must not forget the 3 sisters and the pass of Glencoe, with its panoramic views or Loch Achtriochtan with its most exquisite location for landscape photography.
We top it all up with the view of the Pap from Glencoe Lochan. This is an area that used to support nothing but ice, snow and glaciers not that long ago. They all have left their mark and this is quite obvious even to this day.
During our workshop, we’ll try to get as much of this beauty as we can. In December, the days are fairly short and the weather usually cold but the sun low on the horizon, giving us the opportunity of extensive shooting all day long.
You can’t just visit Glencoe and the surrounding areas, you have to see it through our eyes, join us for an unforgettable experience.
