The Kruger National Park is considered to be one of the greatest game parks in the whole of Africa. In fact, few national parks in the world can offer visitors the same opportunity to view such a reach diversity of Animal species.
However, as game is never evenly distributed in the park, due to the variety of weather conditions, during wet or dry periods, there can be no guarantee of the sighting of any particular animal in any particular area.
One thing is certain though, there are animals everywhere and sightings are plentiful.
The sky there is big, the horizons are far, the great expanses of bushveld - despite tourism development - remain remarkably unspoilt. All the roads, the camps and other man-made features, together account for just 2% of the park's area; the rest is pure wilderness.
And no other sanctuary in Africa can match the Kruger in the number and variety of its life forms: the savannah plains of the park, the forests and riverine reaches are home to nearly 150 kinds of mammal, including the Big Five (Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard, Buffalo), more than 500 bird species, 500 types of tree and the list goes on and on.
All these living things, plus a myriad of micro-organisms, come together to create an integrated domain in which the cycle of life, fragile and miraculous, is sustained through collective dependence.
Booking for the ***2011*** tour is now open. Closing date 31st of July 2010.
The Kruger is big enough (about the size of Wales) to embrace a splendid variety of habitats. And plans are now well under way to make it even bigger, extending its boundaries into neighbouring Zimbabwe and Mozambique in order to create a giant, 35000 sq  km wild life conservation area to be known at the greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park. Border fences are already coming down, and the larger game animals will, in due course, be able to follow their ancient migratory routes once again.
The Kruger park has 12 main parks and although we will visit most of them, we will be staying in the 3 larger ones. These are Skukuza, Satara and Letaba. Skukuza and Satara have restaurants where buffet meals are served (a la cart meal in Letaba), as well as shops where you can buy drinks, cigarettes, fruit and veg, as well as biscuites, chocolate and other products that you might crave for during are stay there.
The camps are attractive and restful clusters of basic, modest but neat and clean chalet huts, fenced against the wild animals.  Skukuza is the largest of all and one can find there supermarket, bank, post office and police station.
The chalet huts have thatched roofs and they all include wash basin, toilet and shower, air condition, refrigerator with freezer and their own barbecue.
All linen and towels are provided, just bring your own shampoo and conditioner. There are power points for your electrical gear and they are all 220 volt but you will need an adaptor to plug them in. If you can't get one, we will manage to buy them locally.
There will be
single occupancy for all and for no extra cost. The participation is strictly down to only 3 individuals and it will be on a first come first served basis.
The park's gates open at 6am and close at 6pm at this time of year. No one is allowed out of the park, out-with those hours.  Photo shooting is strictly from within the vehicle as we are not allowed to even open the doors, while inside the wilderness of the park. Animals are used to humans being around in vehicles but don't feel comfortable beyond that and lets face it, I wouldn't feel comfortable, knowing that there might be a Lion behind that bush 20 yards away.
The last time I was there, I was lucky enough to see a very good variety of animals and birds, they can all be seen in the “Pictures of the area” (link at the top left).
Kruger is in a low malaria zone this time of year so you need to seek medical advice for this and also, to make sure what kind of injections you will need prior to the trip there.
The currency is SA Rand and as I type, the exchange rate is 12 Rand to the UK Pound. You will not need to get a lot of Rand with you, as all is inclusive in the price, just enough to get you the day to day basics that you might need. A full list of what you need to take with you, will be sent to you in plenty of time prior to the trip.
Who is this tour for:
All wild life lovers who would love to see real animal life at its source, in the wilderness of Africa, with no cages and no fences. Even if you are not a photographer, just grab your binoculars and point & shoot and come along, there is plenty to see.

What gear will I need for the tour:

My recommendation would be a digital slr and a lens of the range 100-400mm.
However, most of the animals can be really close so even a 70-300mm will be fine.
If of course you are after the far away animals too, or you love close ups of the animal's faces, and you own a 500mm or 600mm prime lens, by all means you can take it with you, just be sure that your gear case will be allowed inside the plane with you, you wouldn't want your expensive gear to travel with your luggage.
Last time I had a 28-75mm lens with me and never used it so one lens and a camera would be fine. However, saying that, if you own a second camera body, I would recommend to take it with you as you would't want your tour spoiled by a broken down camera (if that happens of course).
One more thing I would recommend is space for your pictures. A small laptop would be ideal or even one of these photo bank storage devices.
