Millions of years in the making and still working its way forward. This has
become one of the most breathtaking areas in the British Isles. And one has
to remember that it was once considered as the ugliest one, because of its
ruggedness. This glacial area is now the host of a great number of lakes
and mountains.
Thousands of acres of woodland that ever changes face with the mood of
every season. The semi-natural woodlands add texture, colour and variety to
the landscape and also provide a home for native animals and plants.
The high rainfall in the core of the National Park favours woodlands rich in
Atlantic mosses and liverworts, ferns and lichen. Bustling towns and
picturesque villages nestle against a scenic backdrop of countryside and
coast, stretching from the endless expanses of Morecambe Bay to lush,
gentle, countryside inland.
This is the Lake District and I doubt there is anyone out there, that doesn’t
admire its rugged and at the same time, delicate beauty.
Walking, climbing, mountaineering, road cycling, mountain biking, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and the list goes on and on.
However, we are there to enjoy the area's beauty from a different angle and through a lens' eye. We'll discover some of the area's stunning scenery and unpredictable light. The Lake District is made up of series of over 80 glacial lakes, mountain tarns and several reservoirs. Of these around 20 are considered significant. Most of the lake names end in either water or mere.
There is no way of course to visit all of them however, we will concentrate on one area and try to do it justice. As well as enjoy the incredible scenery, we will have a lot of small workshops on location. This will give us the opportunity to take in the most the area
has to offer. We will be based around the area of Keswick and some of the places we will visit include, Derwent water, Ashness bridge, Watendlath tarn, Buttermere, Crummock water, Castlerigg stone circle, Tewet tarn, Ullswater, Aira force and more.
The area attracts thousands of visitors every year but hopefully, we will be able to avoid crowds, as we will be out and about early in the morning for the best light.
