One day photo workshop in Northumberland Sun 21 Nov 2010 Course price £ 150
This photo workshop will take place in the field on prime locations around Northumberland, where all the basics in photography will be addressed. Composition, exposure, metering, focusing techniques as well as all technical matters will be discussed in depth.
Our aim is for you to get a better understanding of all subjects and how to get the best out of your equipment.
Packed lunch for the day will be provided and is included in the price.
Subjects we will work on
Composition: One of the most important subjects that usually gives a new photographer a head ache, is the subject of composition.
Often you must find yourself in a prime location, with the light around sunset getting at its best and bathing the landscape
with glorious warm light and yet, you are scratching your head thinking; What on earth do I do now?
We will work around that and will make sure you now do understand what works and what doesn't.
Exposure: Even if you are comfortable enough with composing a scene, are you confident enough on how to expose it?
Or you spend ages in front of your computer, trying to sort out the wrongly exposed image? Do you let everything to chance
or do you have control of your camera? We will work with neutral density graduated filters and how to properly use them.
Metering: We all know that today's modern cameras do a very good job on metering a scene and give you the best settings
for the right exposure but...wouldn't you prefer to know exactly what you are doing and how to individually expose a scene,
the way you want to? Evaluative, spot, average and so on. What are they and how do they work?
Focusing: Hmm, here is a good one. Where and how do you focus for best results? Will the whole scene be in focus
or the back ground will be a blur?
Technical stuff: What exactly is aperture and how does it work? What about the shutter? Manual and auto lens,
sensor cleaning, long exposures and how to best achieve them. ISO, what on earth is that? Bulb? Bulb???
These and many more are the subjects we will cover in that one day course and if at the end of the day you find it all too much, we are always here to reply to any of your questions via email in the future, and direct you to the best possible way.
What a great way to start shooting your favourite subjects the right way in the future.
This is a 6 hour course ( 10am till after sunset) so you better get yourself ready for some intensive shooting and learning.
